Location: New York, NY

Work Model: Hybrid – 3 days onsite per week

About the Role

We are seeking a senior, hands-on MDM Lead Engineer to join our Client Master Data team. This person will serve as the technical owner for our Master Data Management platform and drive initiatives from requirements and data analysis through design, implementation, production support, and continuous improvement.

The ideal candidate will have strong hands-on experience with Semarchy xDM, deep knowledge of MDM principles, strong SQL and data analysis skills, and the ability to lead onshore and offshore engineering teams. This role requires someone who can understand complex data problems, make sound technical decisions, and deliver reliable solutions with minimal oversight.

Key Responsibilities

Lead the design, implementation, and enhancement of enterprise MDM solutions using Semarchy xDM.

Own MDM initiatives from business requirements and data discovery through production implementation and support.

Define and implement match and merge rules, survivorship logic, golden records, hierarchies, workflows, stewardship processes, and data-quality controls.

Perform data profiling, anomaly investigation, root-cause analysis, and data-quality assessments using SQL and other analytical tools.

Understand source systems, business processes, data domains, and downstream data consumption.

Design and support production-grade data pipelines and integrations between MDM platforms, cloud data warehouses, operational systems, APIs, and analytical platforms.

Review and guide technical designs, data models, SQL, pipelines, code, and implementation approaches.

Provide hands-on technical leadership to onshore and offshore engineering teams.

Partner with Product Owners, Data Stewards, business stakeholders, architects, and senior technology leaders.

Translate business requirements into scalable, maintainable, and governed technical solutions.

Support data governance, metadata, lineage, stewardship, and operating-model initiatives.

Manage multiple priorities in a fast-moving environment and drive initiatives through completion.

Identify opportunities to apply modern engineering and AI-native approaches to data quality, automation, and productivity.

Required Qualifications

10+ years of experience in data engineering, MDM, software engineering, or a related technical field.

Strong hands-on experience with Semarchy xDM.

Proven experience implementing enterprise MDM solutions end to end.

Strong understanding of:Match and merge

Survivorship

Golden records

Hierarchies

Data quality

Data stewardship

Workflows

Data publishing and integration patterns

Strong SQL, data profiling, data analysis, and root-cause analysis skills.

Experience with data modeling, data governance, metadata, lineage, and stewardship.

Experience building or supporting production data pipelines.

Experience with several modern data technologies such as Snowflake, Azure, ADF, dbt, Fivetran, Python, APIs, or comparable tools.

Ability to review technical designs, data models, SQL, pipelines, and code.

Experience leading or guiding onshore and offshore engineering teams.

Strong written, verbal, presentation, and stakeholder communication skills.

Ability to work onsite in the New York office three days per week.

Strong ownership, problem-solving, and delivery mindset.

Preferred Qualifications

Experience in Financial Services, Asset Management, Wealth Management, or Capital Markets.

Experience with Client, Customer, Organization, Contact, Account, Party, or similar master data domains.

Salesforce integration experience.

Experience modernizing or re-architecting an existing MDM implementation.

Experience integrating Semarchy or other MDM platforms with cloud data warehouses, operational applications, APIs, and analytical platforms.

Experience applying AI or automation to data quality, data engineering, or MDM processes.

Profiles Not Suitable for This Role

MDM project or program managers without strong hands-on technical experience.

Data governance professionals with limited engineering depth.

Semarchy administrators without experience designing and implementing MDM solutions.

Architects who are no longer hands-on.

Pure data engineers with limited or no MDM experience.

Candidates whose experience is primarily with Informatica, Reltio, or other MDM platforms without meaningful Semarchy xDM experience.

People managers who rely heavily on their teams for technical decisions, troubleshooting, or solution design.
