Surge is seeking professors from top ranking institutions to help train the world’s greatest models. As an elite contributor from higher education, you’ll bring deep academic insight, research rigor, and conceptual clarity to these datasets. You’ll help transform raw model behavior into structured, teachable insights — writing, reviewing, and refining complex reasoning examples that reflect how experts think, argue, and communicate. You will be shaping the model’s intellectual DNA, and working with other esteemed groups of Ivy League professors, researchers, and academics who share this mission. This is a role for someone who thrives on analytical precision, enjoys unpacking nuance, and finds satisfaction in translating scholarly judgment into clear, generalizable examples that raise the bar for machine reasoning.

Academic Excellence – Current or former professor at a top-ranking institution or Ivy League university (preferred), with demonstrated expertise and published research in your field Scholarly Depth – Advanced domain knowledge in your academic field and the ability to explain complex concepts to an intelligent general audience Analytical Writing Skill – Comfort producing tightly reasoned, well-structured content that models high-level reasoning and conceptual synthesis Commitment to Precision – A methodical, detail-oriented approach to annotation, critique, and quality review in a data-centric workflow

Reviewing or rewriting model responses to ensure they reflect sound argumentation, conceptual clarity, and academic rigor Drafting prompts and exemplar answers that illustrate expert reasoning or interdisciplinary synthesis Conducting comparative evaluations of model outputs — identifying subtle reasoning flaws, gaps in evidence, or conceptual overreach Collaborating with Surge researchers to design datasets that capture authentic, expert-level cognitive patterns
