Employer description and requirements
Management Consultant
As a Management Consultant, you’ll bring the structured reasoning, synthesis, and executive judgment that define world-class consulting. You’ll help model how top partners approach unstructured business problems — framing ambiguous situations, developing hypotheses, pressure-testing data, and crafting compelling, insight-driven recommendations. You won’t be running client engagements — you’ll be encoding the thinking systems behind them. This is a role for someone who thrives in ambiguity, combines analytical precision with narrative clarity, and can distill the rigor of elite consulting into reproducible examples that train frontier AI systems to reason strategically.
Top-Tier Consulting Pedigree – Current or Former Partner, Principal, or Senior Engagement Manager at McKinsey, Bain, BCG, or an equivalent strategy firm Strategic Problem-Solving – Proven ability to break down complex, cross-functional challenges into structured, hypothesis-driven frameworks Executive Communication – Facility with board-level synthesis, storyline architecture, and succinct, persuasive recommendations Quality Bar & Judgment – Deep sense of analytical rigor, prioritization, and what “great” looks like in client-ready insight generation
Rewriting model-generated strategy analyses into consulting-grade narratives and frameworks Designing evaluation datasets that capture partner-level reasoning under uncertainty and constraint Reviewing outputs for logic gaps, synthesis quality, and executive readability Collaborating with Surge researchers to formalize consulting-style problem solving for model training and evaluation
