Employer description and requirements
Venture Capital Partner
As a VC Partner, you’ll bring the judgment, pattern recognition, and analytical discipline that define world-class investing. You’ll evaluate and refine strategic reasoning tasks drawn from venture and company-building contexts — assessing market fit, founder quality, competitive advantage, and portfolio construction with the same rigor you apply in live investment settings. This role calls for synthesis across ambiguity — the ability to weigh partial signals, think in scenarios, and distill conviction from incomplete information. Your perspective will help shape how models learn to reason about innovation, capital allocation, and long-term value creation.
Venture Leadership Experience – Current or former Associate, Partner, General Partner, or Managing Director at a VC firm. Investment Judgment – Deep experience evaluating early- and growth-stage opportunities, with a strong sense of founder quality and market inflection Strategic and Analytical Clarity – Ability to dissect business models, identify defensibility, and assess upside and execution risk Communication and Narrative Skill – Facility in translating complex qualitative assessments into crisp, actionable reasoning
Reviewing or rewriting model-generated investment analyses for clarity, judgment, and rigor Designing venture-style evaluation prompts that mirror live investment decision processes Analyzing reasoning quality in simulated pitch or diligence scenarios for depth and realism Partnering with Surge researchers to build datasets that capture authentic investor reasoning and risk assessment patterns
